They say that those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it so it’s important to look back… and equally important to look forward.

It’s been a challenging year. Covid was tough, but (whichever side you were on), you had company. This year and particularly last winter, too many people felt they were alone.

One of our proudest TBH achievements of 2024 is introducing Industry Co-Labs because the feedback was that it gave people that sense of solidarity they hadn’t realised they were missing out on, or needed.

Connection is so important to us humans… ideally positive connection. We see that in the data from Waitaki App. People celebrate local successes; that’s the stories more people read.

So as we head through the silly season, we’re hoping that you get plenty of opportunities to connect with new people as well as friends and loved ones.

Try not to get too stressed about things. If you’re feeling the pressure, check out Margi Bryant’s top tips for surviving the holiday season.

And then, as you begin to look forward, check out some opportunities below to make some new and positive connections for 2025.

Closing and reopening times 🕘

We close our doors for the year on Friday 20th December, reopening with our usual Mon-Fri, 8.30 to 5pm hours on Monday January 13th.

That means meeting rooms will not be available during the Summer break but our members will still have access to come and go as they wish.

Join us at The Business Hive

We have the best people working here - the nature of coworking means we just all get on with work as well as with each other.

Day passes to our communal coworking space, The Bank, gives people a chance to dip a toe in the water, plus a pass can be used over two half days (is that a handy Christmas present for someone?).

A monthly membership to The Bank is super cost-effective if planning to spend one day a week or more with us. Open 8.30-5pm Monday to Friday, members pop in and out as they need.

The Manufactory is where people lease a desk in a shared office where they can leave all their stuff, come and go as they please with secure 24/7 access (the view’s not bad either).

All of it comes with high-speed WiFi, complementary teas and coffees, office cookies (surprise), break out spaces for informal meetings or private calls, some free parking and like-minded company if and when you feel like a yarn.

On reflection

Last but furthest from least in our thoughts, is the loss of Arrow this year. It’s a deep cut. We know many of you are feeling it, and thinking of her and her family. Let’s just take care of each other.
